This month I travelled home to Thailand for my sister’s Thyroid surgery, though a tough trip we still managed to see a lot. Thailand will always feel like my home, there is so much to eat it is just foodie heaven. This time we decided to try something a bit fancy to celebrate the success of my sister’s surgery. Eat Me is a Modern Asian-influenced international comfort food menu created by well decorated Chef Tim Butler. I’m so used to eating cheap but delicious street food so this was a really exciting experience for me. I went with my family, amongst our family of 4 we ordered the Nduja Sausage with Duck Egg, Honey Comb and Manchego and the Spicy Wagyu Tartare “laab”. The Nduja Sausage was intense but the hits of Pecans and Honey Comb really balanced it out. I’m not a fan of Tartare but my brother and sister absolutely loved it, they even got more bread to mop it all up.

For our mains we shared a few dishes, starting the Whole Roasted Salt Bush Lamb Rack with Sunchokes, Goat Cheese and Rocket. Now I am not a huge fan of Goat’s Cheese and my brother isn’t too keen on Rocket but I am telling you that every element of this dish compliments the other, it was light and succulent but filling at the same time. I swear it was the perfect dish for the warm weather. Next we have the Australian Wagyu Beef Tenderloin with Padron Pepper and Cabernet Sauce, this was a juicy bit of meat with great accompaniments but I think it was lacking excitement compared to everything else we tried really. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious and my mother ordered it as a safe option but I wish we tried something more adventurous.

Finally the Red Curry Oxtail and Bone Marrow, this was a real winner for me, Bone Marrow and Oxtail are both quite rich so I was concerned this would be quite heavy, however alongside our Lamb Rack platter it was fantastic. It was juicy and the right amount of fattiness, I would definitely recommend giving this a go as a great display of what fusion cooking can be.
