We got to visit the British Library this weekend, we’ve driven past so many times and I’ve always wanted to go in but were never actually in the area itself. The Library itself is a grade 1 listed building which means it is a site of exceptional national, architectural or historical importance.

Designed by architect Sir Colin St. John Wilson (1922–2007), together with partner MJ Long (1939–2018), The British Library took 30 years to build and finally opened to the public in 1998. The centre of the library has a large enclosure that spans across all floors, this houses the books collected by King George III

It’s fascinating to see a treasure trove of history surrounded by everyone buried into their studies, laptops, tablets and phones. If you’re in the area you should pop in for a visit, there is always an event or exhibit on, I wish I had a bit more time to explore the books themselves actually.
